Activities

The project includes international leading researchers. With regard to the research, publications these will be submitted to leading ISI journals. However, to get faster feedback from the scientific community, papers will also be submitted to conferences such as ETC (European Transport Conference), the TRB annual meeting (US, Transport Research Board), World Conference on Transport Research (WCTR), TRISTAN, IATBR, etc. At the end of the project a number of best papers from the project will be selected and published as a book from an international publisher such as Springer.

With regard to promoting the use of the results, the Danish Ministry of Transport has agreed to participate in the project. The Ministry has the responsibility to write recommendations and manuals e.g. for project evaluation. It is the ambition that the recommendations with regard to methods to quantify uncertainties in cost estimates and transport models should become new recommendations from the Ministry, whilst the recommendations on socio-economic analyses may become a supplement to the existing one from the Ministry. The project will develop practice-oriented software in sub-project (5).

DTU Transport hosts the Danish Transport Model Centre. This has a steering group of major Danish authorities (such as the Road Directorate, the National Rail Company (DSB), The National Transport Agency, MOVIA, etc.). Results will be disseminated directly through this body. In addition to this papers and lectures will be given at the Danish Transport Conference (Traffic days at AAU) as well as other conferences.

Three companies are part of the project. This secures that the methods that are being developed are applicable at consulting firms, which carry out most of the transport forecasts and socio-economic analyses that are required by public authorities.
